PREGNANCY IS A SPIRITUAL INVITATION TO SLOW DOWN, to turn your awareness inward, and to consciously shift from a state of ‘doing’ to ‘being’.

As you bloom into a mother, you are witnessing first-hand the creative power of the Universe and the Mysteries of the Feminine Spirit, who begin weaving a new life pattern for your baby and your rebirth to take place. With it, carrying seeds of potential and possibilities that you, as a mother, have been given the sacred responsibilities to tend to. A nurturing and caring essence begins to saturate your way of being.

With each heartbeat harmonizing with the rhythm of your baby inside the comfort of your womb, you begin to enter into an ‘in-between’ – a suspended state, a void – that acts as a bridge between the old and the new. There, the spiral of transformation begins its course, whether you are aware of its effect on you or not.

By consciously slowing down, you encounter your soul and the mosaic of your past. It will seek to be acknowledged, bringing to the surface of your awareness that which needs to be expressed and healed. Turn inward and listen attentively with an open heart and compassion for yourself. Do not attempt to suppress, deny or ignore, for it will remain stored in your body and energy field. Do acknowledge its presence; it does come with a purpose because it is time. In honouring its teachings, lessons and gifts, we begin a process of releasing the old – making room for the new to arise.

Old patterns will break free, drifting away. You will begin to uncover, within, gifts of deep insights and truths that will carry you as you sail through your pregnancy, birth and beyond – building a new foundation on which to evolve and grow into.

A stronger wiser you is waiting to be reconnected with.

Pregnancy is profoundly sacred. Not only are you growing life within you, but you are also going through your own personal transformation. It is a very potent time in the life of a woman. As you tend to all the layers that make up your Self: your physical, emotional and spiritual body, you strengthen the Universe your baby is dwelling in. By acknowledging, honouring and releasing your past, you purify the sacred space you hold for it.

As you grow into a full moon, pregnancy becomes a time for ceremony, a ground for rituals and an opportunity for healing.

In setting the motion for your transformation, I invite you to welcome stillness in your life with a daily ritual.

Choose an expression that resonates deeply with you or that you feel compelled to. You may choose to meditate, journal or make art. How you choose to go about this is not what’s important. The act of setting a daily intention to check-in with yourself, in turn creating a ritual, is what will open the gateway to your soul.

You may begin each session by simply asking the question:

“What is it within me that is seeking to be acknowledged, honoured and released?”

Listen for the whispers, feel the emotions moving through you, your soul is guiding you – always.

Be gentle with yourself as you begin this inner exploration. Surround yourself with the love and support that you may need as you embark on this journey.

    I have to express deep gratitude for this beautiful article. I keep coming back here when the emotions of pregnancy seem overwhelming.       Pregnancy, Birth and Motherhood can trigger an array of emotions that are deeply rooted in the past and it can become overwhelming. Here are a few simple steps you can follow to untangle yourself from the weight of the emotions:

      1 – Write each thought on paper – a sentence each will do – over the next few days or weeks.
      I find that writing the thoughts on paper helps me slowly detach from them and I eventually find myself as the observer – just witnessing – as my wheels keep turning and rummaging through the same old thoughts and patterns.
      2 – Once you have built a strong awareness of your thought patterns, you can begin exploring by choosing one thought at a time and writing your heart and soul out on paper. Allow yourself to be carried back into its ‘story’ – feel everything it has to say and give it expression. This may take several days or just one session. Once you feel like you’ve covered all basis, take a deep breath and find yourself moments of stillness in your day where you can just sit with the ‘story’. Ask it what its purposes is, its teachings, the wisdom it carries for you and wait for the Truth.
      If easier, imagine yourself 10-20 years older, and write yourself a heartfelt letter, allow your soul to speak through you. You may be pleasantly surprised.
      3 – Once you have acknowledge (1), honoured (2), you may begin a process of releasing it with love – but only when you’re ready. You may do it one ‘thought/story’ at a time as you deal with each, or you may decide to keep them aside until you are ready to release all of them at once. The releasing process can take different shapes and forms. You may decide to do a small ritual and burn each one, releasing all that’s been holding you back and blocking you, to the Universe. You may decide to rip it in a million pieces and burry it deep in the forest, or near a tree that calls you. Remember to use the power of your intention to release it/them and make room for the new to arise. Say a little prayer and give thanks.

      Have fun and use your imagination to reconstruct this practice any way you feel called to. Take what you like and leave behind what doesn’t resonate.
